Tardy Halloween

So, here are some pictures from our halloween celebrations this year. It was a long Halloween week or so but tons of fun for the kids!

We went to our Ward's halloween party the Saturday before (Shelbie was Stephanie from Lazy town), our school's Boo Fest on Monday (Shelbie was Dorothy from Oz), Kindergarten classes Fall Festival on the 31st during school (she was Dorothy), real Trick-or-Treating that night (She was Stephanie again), and then we went to the Discovery Science Center's members only event on Nov 1 which had a costume contest (Shelbie went as Cinderella).

Scotty was Diego and Sydnie was Dora. The costumes I made this year were done the beginning of October and I told Shelbie that she couldn't change her mind because I had to make them and didn't have time to make anything else. But...
Shelbie was talking at school with her friends a few weeks before halloween and discussing who was going to be what etc...well, one day she came home and declared that she did not want to be Stephanie from Lazy Town because no one knew who she was.
...So, I had to let it go that she HAD to be Stephanie and let her be who she wanted to be so that I didn't mess with her self-esteem or confidence or whatever. So she chose to be Dorothy. Which was totally fine with me. (last year I made a dorothy dress one size too big so that she could keep wearing it as a dress-up, and it still fits her). She chose to be stephanie at church and to go trick or treating because Scott told her that other people knew who she was just not those kids at school who don't watch that show. Anyway, no big deal, she was cute and pretty in all her costumes this year.Shelbie is running towards me which is why she looks hunched over...and her friend behind her was also Dorothy this year. This is at their Kinder Fall Festival. Their orange paper was a huge check list of all the stuff they were going to do...it was so much fun!

Scotty and Sydnie totally got into the trick-or-treating. Scotty thought it was great to go up to someone's door and knock and say "dee-dee" (translation -"trick-or-treat") and get some candy in return. He was always the first one up to the door. Sydnie also thought it was cool but instead of stashing the candy and going to get more she would hold on to it all and try to eat every piece, wrapper and all. She is a crack up!
