My hospital offered a Sibling Preparation Class for those 3-7 years old. They taught the kids about what things we may need to check/do for our baby siblings when they cry. So, they taught them how to change a diaper, how to hold the baby properly when feeding with a bottle, & how to wrap them up "burrito" style. They showed a couple of clips from Elmo about how an older sibling was helping the mom and dad do different things like getting supplies or helping to burp the baby or whatever. They also took us up to a LDR room and let the kids see where the moms would be when the babies came. They then walked us down the hall and we were able to look into the nursery window and they had a mom holding up her baby for the little kids to see. That was Shelbie's favorite part. She saw that teeny tiny baby and she said "aaahhhh, he's so cute". She just couldn't stop looking at him. They taught them about washing their hands before touching the baby etc. It was so fun and then they had a little birthday party with cake and a graduation with certificates. It was so cute and fun. Shelbie really enjoyed it. She was going to bring her twin baby dolls but just the day before the class her preschool class had a party at Build-a-Bear Workshop and she is now attached to her bear so that was her doll/animal of choice to bring to the class.
